August 15, 2005 Hollywood Reporter announced today that Benderspink, a top production company, has optioned the rights to comic property The Gray Area, by Glen Brunswick and John Romita, Jr., originally published by Image Comics last year as a three-issue miniseries, and collected as a trade paperback and signed, limited hardcover this year.
Writer Glen Brunswick and Benderspink are also attached as producers for Wildstorm/DC’s Ex Machina, for which Brunswick is writing the film adaptation. The artwork for The Gray Area was done by fan-favorite John Romita, Jr.
Rudy Chance, the corrupt cop main character of The Gray Area, will next be appearing in a short story by Brunswick and artist Cully Hamner in the Image Comics Holiday Special, scheduled to be released this December.
