Atomik Mike Comic Book Optioned

July 14, 2006 The rights to the latest title from Across the Pond Studios, Atomik Mike, have been optioned for use on the new Comcast Cable morning TV program, KidsQuest Adventures. The TV series has already been greenlit for production with shows scheduled to begin airing this fall. Atomik Mike creators, Stephan Nilson and Israel Cruz, have been brought aboard to write the Atomik Mike segments, with Nilson also serving as one of the show’s Executive Producers.

KidsQuest Adventures is a live action, interactive educational program geared towards an 8-14 year old audience. The characters Atomik Mike and April will appear as hosts on the show which will feature a weekly lesson that takes the children on interactive adventures from their TV to the internet. The show will also feature animated flash cartoons taken from the Atomik Mike comics.

KIdsQuest Adventures is distributed through Comcast Cable and will air five days a week. Four times during the week it will air on different channels and then on Saturday morning it will run on all four channels simultaneously.

“We’re excited that our characters can help educate today’s children,” said co-creator Stephan Nilson. “KidsQuest Adventures starring Atomik Mike reminds me of when I was a kid and how Spider-Man used to star on the Electric Company. That’s the same feel I got when I heard about this show. Electric Company was great for me as a kid and I expect that with the interactive capabilities now available using the internet, KidsQuest Adventures will have the same influence on a whole new generation.”

The live action Atomik Mike and April mascots will be on hand at Comic-Con International: San Diego to help promote the new show.
