2010’s Red (Retired & Extremely Dangerous) was a sleeper hit, but the 2013 sequel fell asleep at the box office. So, instead of making a third film producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian have chosen to adapt Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner’s comic book for the small screen, according to Deadline.
The upcoming television series “will be set in a more grounded and authentic world, focusing on the characters’ darkly hilarious struggles to survive civilian life as they simultaneously fight for and against the very organization that threw them out.”
Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber, who wrote both Red films, will serve as the show’s executive producers along with di Bonaventura and Vahradian.
